The family of the 26-year-old man shot to death in Ottawa's rural southeast area early Saturday morning are remembering him as “a beloved son, selfless brother, loving partner and the kindest friend anyone could be blessed in this life to have.”

Granit Ahmeti, the victim in the weekend shooting and a wellknown tow truck driver, was part owner of the family-owned company Canadian Towing, located on Michael Street in the city's east end.

His family issued a statement Sunday expressing their grief and asking for privacy.

“It is with the most profoundly heavy heart that we have to share the passing of Granit Ahmeti,” his family said in the statement.
